Students from the Department of English Language and Translation at the College of Science and Theoretical Studies – Jeddah Branch (Female Campus) organized an awareness event titled “Reading Day”, under the supervision of Dr. Rajaa Fallatah and with the support of the Deanship of Student Affairs and the Community Service Unit at the branch, as part of the department’s student activities and community service initiatives.
The event came as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to support cultural development and foster reading awareness. It celebrated the beauty of reading in both Arabic and English and aimed to provide diverse knowledge resources that contribute to the development of students' linguistic and intellectual skills, as well as those of the surrounding community.
The event featured several interactive stations, including:
- 🔎 An introductory corner for a website featuring selected Arabic and English reading materials, designed to facilitate access to quality cultural content.
- 🎁 “Scratch and Win” corner, which offered motivational giveaways in a fun and engaging format.
- 💡 An informational corner highlighting the benefits of reading and its impact on language development and critical thinking.
The event witnessed notable engagement from students, who expressed appreciation for the initiative, praising its combination of educational value and interactive elements that promote a love of reading in both academic and personal contexts.
This initiative reflects the vision of the College of Science and Theoretical Studies in supporting purposeful student activities and empowering students to play an active role in spreading cultural and intellectual awareness—contributing to the university’s mission of community service and knowledge development.
