SEU Celebrates Late Healthcare Heroes on National Day Ceremony

President of SEU, Prof. Lilac Alsafadi, announced allocating 100 seats in the University’s distinctive academic programs for children of the healthcare heroes who lost their lives to COVID 19.

This was announced in the 90th National day ceremony of SEU on Sunday, at the University headquarters in Riyadh. President of SEU, Vice-Presidents, Undersecretary of Ministry of Health for Human Resources, Mr. Abdulrahman Alaiban, and Ministry of Health staff were present in the ceremony. 

Prof. Lilac congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, his Crown Prince, and all for this joyful occasion.

She said,” Today, we are joined by the children of the brave and heroic healthcare workers who lost their lives on the frontline. Let us all remember the sacrifices they made to protect the people. Thus, I am honored to announce allocating 100 seats for children of healthcare workers that died from COVID 19 to study at SEU, as it is a national, religious, and human duty.”

Prof. Alsafadi added, “The National Day comes every year to renew the elegant memory of the history of the founder King Abdulaziz and the heroics of the loyal men of the nation who made, by their sacrifices, a nation that rises to the horizon and proves its name among nations.

Prof. Alsafadi continued her speech by saying, “We have this occasion Today under exceptional circumstances that the Kingdom witnesses to link the past with the present and to complete the journey of giving and sacrifice made by the loyal men and women of the nation. Among those are healthcare heroes who sacrificed their lives due to Corona and responded to the pandemic in the frontline. Hence, we can live in a vast country that enjoys security, health, and prosperity.

Dr. Safadi expressed her gratitude to the leadership and Ministry of Education for their attention to the continuity of education through transforming to e-learning in general and higher education. Furthermore, she appreciated the Ministry of Health’s significant role in protecting the citizen and the resident and care for the children of healthcare heroes as an honor and gratitude for their sacrifice to the country.

At the end of the ceremony, the President of the University and Undersecretary of Ministry of Health for Human Resources honored a number of the families of the late heroes. And everyone participated in signing a mural for the families as well as taking memorial photos.
