The justifications for proposing the Law Program are as follows:

  1. The extensive and rapid legislative and judicial developments in the Kingdom, resulting from the modernization and completion of the legislative framework to cover various financial, economic, and social activities, in addition to reforms in the justice system and the restructuring of courts and judicial institutions.
  2. The Kingdom’s growing role on the Arab, regional, and international arenas, which has led to an increase in the number and types of international agreements to which the Kingdom is a party.
  3. The emergence of an urgent need to expand legal studies on one hand, and to develop the existing structure of legal education to keep pace with these developments on the other.
  • To study the Saudi legal environment in both its Sharia and statutory dimensions—legislative and judicial—allowing graduates to develop integrated knowledge and skills and achieve a high level of qualification.
  • To develop students’ independent learning abilities and equip them with the capacity to approach legal issues and practical cases in a scientific and systematic manner, enabling them to be fully prepared for professional practice.
  • To meet labor market needs for legally qualified personnel with both academic and practical competence.
  • To prepare a generation of graduates capable of understanding and highlighting the unique features of the Saudi legal system, which is based on Sharia principles and includes regulations covering various commercial, financial, administrative, and social fields—while also enabling them to contribute to the drafting of international agreements and engage effectively in their implementation when the Kingdom is a party.
  • To contribute to spreading legal awareness in society, positively impacting the performance of state institutions and reinforcing a culture of respect for the law.
  • To prepare graduates who are qualified to work with international law and its various rules across different fields, and to reconcile these rules with the provisions of Saudi law, based on Islamic Sharia, and apply them at both the local and international levels.
  • To graduate well-qualified national professionals capable of providing Sharia and legal consultation, representing clients before courts and judicial institutions, and appearing before arbitration bodies, both inside and outside the Kingdom.
  • To provide students with a solid understanding of the rules, mechanisms, institutions, and requirements of international trade, in alignment with the significant role the Kingdom plays in global commerce.
