About the Unit
The Intellectual Property Unit at the Deanship of Graduate Studies, Research and Innovation works to manage the innovation protection system and support researchers, which contributes to enhancing knowledge and research output in line with the university’s objectives and the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Unit's Tasks
- Reviewing and evaluating research works and innovative projects submitted by university staff, and determining their eligibility for registration as intellectual property rights, while ensuring their compliance with regulatory and national standards.
- Registering and monitoring intellectual property rights involves supervising the registration procedures for patents, copyrights, and trademarks, and following up on all stages of registration until official documents are obtained.
- Providing consultations and technical support to researchers and innovators. Guiding faculty members, students, and innovators on innovation protection mechanisms, registration requirements, and options for utilizing and developing creative ideas.
- Enhancing awareness of intellectual property culture within the university by organizing training programs, workshops, and awareness courses aimed at spreading the concept of innovation protection and intellectual property practices among university staff.
- Supporting the shift towards research innovation aligned with Vision 2030, aligning the unit's plans with national transformation programs, and encouraging innovations that serve national development priorities and the Kingdom's strategic areas.
