Pre-MBA Preparatory Semester

The Deanship of Postgraduate Studies at the College of Business Administration, Saudi Electronic University, is pleased to offer the Pre-MBA Preparatory Semester — a qualifying program delivered during the summer term and designed to equip prospective applicants with the foundational knowledge and skills required before joining the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) programs. The semester runs during the period [28/6/2026] to [20/8/2026]. It is delivered in an intensive format, with each course meeting twice per week and each session lasting approximately two hours. Classes are held in the evening within the following time slots: 4:00–5:50 PM, 6:00–7:50 PM, and 8:00–9:50 PM.

The preparatory semester comprises four courses, each carrying three credit hours. The first is Principles of Management (MGT490), which integrates management theory and practice and emphasizes the competencies essential to effective leadership — including planning, motivation, organizational control, change management, and decision-making — while addressing domestic and global business issues within an ethical, team-centered framework and developing communication and conflict-resolution skills.

The second is Microeconomics (ECON490), an introduction to economic theory that examines how the decisions of firms and individuals are shaped by economic forces, with emphasis on demand, supply, market-equilibrium analysis, basic market-structure models, externalities, and the behavior of economic agents and its global implications.

The third is Principles of Financial Accounting (ACCT490), which explains how general-purpose financial statements communicate information about a firm’s performance and financial position to external users. It covers the accounting cycle, journal entries, posting, adjustments, closing, and the preparation of financial statements for service and merchandising businesses, as well as key elements such as cash, receivables, inventory, long-lived assets, liabilities, and equity.

The fourth is Statistics (STAT490), which introduces students to statistics and its business applications. It covers both descriptive and inferential statistics, including measures of central tendency and dispersion, graphical displays of data, probability concepts and distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, linear regression, and analysis of variance, using Microsoft Excel for analysis.

To complete the preparatory semester and qualify for admission to the MBA or EMBA program, a student must obtain a minimum score of 75 out of 100 in each of the four courses.

This preparatory semester is a fundamental step that ensures applicants’ academic readiness and establishes the foundations upon which study in both master’s programs is built. The Deanship of Postgraduate Studies welcomes prospective applicants and wishes them every success in their academic journey.
