The health of the university's employees receives great attention from the university administration, so the Medical Services Department is keen to develop and expand health services for its employees and their families by providing therapeutic and preventive services by the health staff at the University Medical Center in family medicine, dentistry clinics, and supporting medical services such as laboratory, radiology and pharmacy in accordance with the high health quality standards to improve the aspirations of the university's employees.

Departments

  • The family physician is the patient's first point of contact with the healthcare system and aims to provide comprehensive and continuous care, with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and improving quality of life, rather than focusing solely on treating illnesses.
  • The family physician provides comprehensive and continuous healthcare for all members of the family, regardless of their age, gender, or type of illness.

The role of a family physician includes the following:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of common diseases and acute medical conditions.
  • Management and follow-up of chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia.
  • Providing preventive healthcare services, including vaccinations, routine screenings, and early detection of diseases.
  • Promoting health and providing health education on nutrition, physical activity, smoking cessation, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Monitoring children's health, including growth and vaccinations.
  • Providing women’s healthcare, including follow-up of normal pregnancy, family planning, and routine examinations.
  • Caring for older adults and monitoring their healthcare needs.
  • Assessing and treating common mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, and referring patients who require specialist care.
  • Requesting laboratory tests and radiological investigations and interpreting their results.
  • Referring patients to specialist physicians when needed and following up on their condition after referral.
  • Coordinating healthcare services among different specialties to ensure continuity of care.
  • Issuing medical reports and sick leave certificates in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Participating in awareness programs and training on first aid and emergency response.
  • Applying patient safety standards and infection control measures.
  • Triage patients according to the severity of their condition and determine treatment priorities.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care.
  • Rapidly assess and diagnose emergency cases, urgent conditions, and injuries.
  • Manage cases such as accidents, heart attacks, angina pectoris, strokes, shortness of breath, poisoning, burns, and other emergency conditions.

  • Perform resuscitation for critical cases when required.

  • Dispensing medications through my prescription is an advanced electronic service that aims to ensure the availability of medications by linking the university medical center with the community pharmacy from the nearest community pharmacy free of charge.

  • Preparing and implementing health education programs throughout the academic year for university staff.
  • Publishing educational content aimed at increasing health awareness and developing the knowledge of university staff on various health topics and methods of prevention.

  • Providing psychological consultations for individuals and families.
  • Assessing psychological conditions through interviews and appropriate therapeutic sessions.
  • Developing a treatment plan or psychological support plan that meets the beneficiary’s needs.
  • Supporting patients in coping with anxiety, depression, psychological stress, and crises.
  • Educating patients and their families about mental health and healthy coping strategies.
  • Referring cases that require assessment or treatment to a psychiatrist or specialized services.
  • Collaborating with the medical team to provide comprehensive healthcare.
