Global Entrepreneurship Week, which runs from 14 to 20 November 2022, is an international initiative to spread the entrepreneurship and freelancing culture through specialized seminars and workshops in all fields related to entrepreneurship and innovation. It also offers advisory and mentoring sessions that contribute to exchanging knowledge and experiences, thereby creating opportunities for entrepreneurship in new innovative projects. The Saudi Electronic University is keen to activate this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week to encourage future entrepreneurs and achieve several objectives. These objectives include creating a fertile learning environment to motivate entrepreneurial thought and inspire young men and women to innovate and produce unique projects in order to achieve the strategic goals of the University and the Human Capability Development Program.

During Global Entrepreneurship Week 2022, the SEU offers an entrepreneurial program full of seminars and workshops in all fields related to entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as advisory and mentoring sessions that contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experiences. The program also includes a competition entitled: The Smart Entrepreneurial Idea, which aims to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship among University students in the areas of intelligent transformation and encourage them to think outside the box.

A series of seminars are presented virtually in collaboration with selected entrepreneurship specialists  as well as a number of prominent entrepreneurs.

This competition aims to meet the needs of society in innovative and new ways. The competition projects focus on using technology in implementing the ideas and thus maximizing its effect in improving the various economic sectors in line with the Kingdom’s vision 2030. The competition includes two paths: environmental entrepreneurship and community leadership.

Paths

- Environmental entrepreneurship:

Presenting an idea of a smart project that contributes to overcoming environmental challenges, thus preserving natural resources and reducing pollution.

⦁  Protection of natural resources (saving water, energy or renewable energy).

⦁ Reducing pollution and waste (reduce, reuse, recycle, and get rid of traces).

- Social entrepreneurship:

Presenting a smart pilot project that carries sustainable solutions to contribute to the development and societal progress in the following areas: (public health, education, food security and media).

 

Terms and Conditions of participation

  • Application is open for the SEU students only.
  • Projects should be related to the competition paths: the path of environmental entrepreneurship or the path of social entrepreneurship.
  • Applicants must attach a presentation explaining the idea and its main aspects. A template is available via the university website
  • Candidates are obligated to:
  • Attend evaluation sessions with the Committee.
  • Attend the closing session to announce the winners.
  • Submit the necessary files for the shared ideas.

Prizes

  • First place: 2500 SAR
  • Second place: 1500 SAR
  • Third place: 1000 SAR
