Scientific Council

About the Council

The Scientific Council was established pursuant to Article (33) of the University System issued by Royal Decree No. 30005 dated 10/7/1435 AH, and it is responsible for supervising the scientific affairs of faculty members, research, studies and publication affairs, and in particular:

Recommending the appointment of faculty members.
Deciding on the academic promotions of faculty members according to the regulations approved by the Higher Education Council.
Encouraging scientific research, authorship, translation, and publication through:
establishing regulations to encourage the preparation of scientific research;
proposing the establishment of scientific research centers;
coordinating among scientific research centers and developing a general plan for them;
organizing relations with research centers outside the university;
determining, reviewing, and authorizing the disbursement of incentive and recognition awards for scientific works;
publishing research, books, and dissertations deemed appropriate for publication;
recommending the issuance of scientific journals;
approving textbooks and dissertations referred to it that require review;
evaluating the academic credentials submitted by Saudi faculty members;
and considering matters referred to it by the University Council.

The Scientific Council at the Saudi Electronic University seeks to achieve leadership and excellence at the local and regional levels in the development of academic and research affairs. The council is considered a fundamental pillar in supporting academic excellence and scientific research within the university. The council works to implement the relevant regulations and systems with full transparency and fairness, while ensuring their continuous review and updating in line with best practices, and in alignment with the university’s vision and strategic plan, contributing to the achievement of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The council also strives to entrench the values of quality, excellence, and speed of completion in all the services it provides, which enhances institutional performance efficiency and contributes to achieving sustainable development and raising the university’s standing locally and internationally.
