Academic advising is the task assigned to faculty members to help students on their academic achievement in the best possible way through guidance and introduction to the rules and regulations. Academic advising also helps students choose the appropriate major that match their interests, as well as helping students overcome any problems, whether social or academic that may impact their learning progress.
Objectives of Academic Advising
The Academic Advising Unit in the college seeks to provide advising services that meet students’ needs, and in which it contribute in developing their skills that help them in achieving their academic goals. Academic Advising Unit also seeks to develop their services in accordance with academic advising international standards applied in various educational institutions.
Academic Advising Services
Support and aid new students in developing their skills that help to adapt and adjust with university life through orientation programs that clarify university’s rules and regulations.
Develop students’ planning skills in order to apply the appropriate study plan that suit their circumstances.
Improve and develop students’ ability to determine their objectives and choose the major that suit their abilities and interests.
Develop time organization and investment skills.
Support students’ confidence in themselves.
Student Responsibilities
- Student should have full responsibility for his/her performance and transcripts in the electronic system.
- Student should continuously follow up his/her college department and communicate with instructors and academic advisors.
- It is very important to participate during lectures and discussions.
- Student have to attend lectures on time and submit all assignments before the deadline.
- Student should be aware of every details of academic calendar that informs deadlines of postponement and other student services.
- Student should follow up the announcements through E-mail, billboard, website (blackboard).
- Student Should read and adhere the rules & regulations.
