An invitation to register in "Translation Challenge" competition

The Vice Presidency for Female Student Affairs, represented by the Translation Center, is pleased to announce the 

(Translation Challenge) competition

for SEU students in all branches, by translating a video that will be  sent to participants on Sunday, 24th of May.  

Competition Process:

1. Registration will be before the end of Saturday, May 22,2021 (click here to register)
2. Participants will receive an e-mail from The Translation Center on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 3:00 P.m
3. If you do not receive the e-mail from the translation center on Sunday 23 of May by 3:10 p.m., you must send an e-mail to the center indicating that you didn't receive the competition mail. 
4. A video will be sent to the participants' e-mail on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. 
5. The translation will be from Arabic to English. 
6. Subtitles must be added to the video using one of the audio and video editing programs. 
7. The video is submitted after adding the (subtitles) and a Word file containing the translated transcript. 
8. Submitting the video will be through the link, which will be sent to the participants’ university e-mail.

Conditions: 

1. Participants must be SEU students.
2. To register to the competition link (click here), it will be open until the end of Saturday, May 22, 2021.
3. Only one participant should translate the clip.
4. The translation must be submitted within the specified period “two hours” only, and it will be closed at 5:00 p.m.
5. Add subtitles by using clip editing programs such as InShot, Camtasia, Video Show, and Aegisub. 
6. Download the audio and video editing program, familiarize yourself and try it before the day of the competition, as the allotted competition time does not include application download or trying out the program. 
7. Translation must be clear and in legible font on a clear background (for example writing in white with a black background). 
8. Subtitles must be at the bottom of the screen. 
9. Subtitles have to appear simultaneously with the speech, as shown in the demo video (click to watch the video). 
10. Submit two translation files (the translated video and Word file). 
11. The two files must be identical, or it will be canceled.

Awards:

The winners in the first three places will be given 2.200 RS in total, as the following:

• First Place: 1000 RS.
• Second Place: 700 RS.
• Third Place: 500 RS.
