Saudi Electronic University Research Initiative to Support E-Learning in Higher Education

The Deanship of Scientific Research is pleased to launch an initiative to fund research projects to support E-learning in University/Hight Education and invites all interested researchers to submit their research proposals via Email. The Deanship will provide the necessary support for outstanding proposals to be completed within a period not exceeding (six months) from the date of signing Contract.

Themes and Domains:

• Challenges facing e-learning, especially during the transition to e-learning due to Coronavirus.
• Trends and future outlook for e-learning.
• The infrastructure of educational institutions and how they faced the sudden transformation to e-learning due to Coronavirus.
• Assessing the economic and social impact at this stage.
• Evaluating the role and impact of media, both traditional and digital.
• Evaluating the impact of social media in preventing and limiting the spread in such circumstances.
• Implementing artificial intelligence, big data, and informational programs to analyze, forecast, and extract important information.

Regulations and Conditions:

1. The Principal Investigator must be from the Saudi Electronic University, and research cooperation with parties outside the university is allowed.
2. Submit CVs for all research group members.
3. Multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary are considered within members of one team.
4. The submitted research ideas are based on proven scientific foundations.
5. Research proposals should be in line with initiative themes and objectives.
6. The idea should be original and innovative, or a substantial addition or development of an existing idea.
7. Commitment to the ethics of scientific research at all stages of the research project in accordance with the Charter for Research Ethics.

Submission Process:

1. Submission starts from April 5th, 2020, until April 26th, 2020 (The papers submission has been extended until May 3, 2020).
2. The Principle Investigator completes the approved form (click here to get the form) and emails it to (ELearning-projects@seu.edu.sa), indicating all the required information with a detailed description of the proposal, including a timeline, and work stages and the expected budget for each stage.
3. The submitted application is subject to review and evaluation by a scientific committee formed by the Deanship of Scientific Research.
4. Financing budgets for approved research proposals are announced on the Deanship of Scientific Research website, and researchers are notified via Email.
5. A contract is signed between the Deanship of Scientific Research and the Principal Investigator to start the project.
6. Halfway through, the Principle Investigator presents a progress report to the Deanship.
7. The Principal Investigator must write the approved acknowledgment for this initiative, in which the Deanship of Scientific Research at the Saudi Electronic University is thanked for supporting the research project through this initiative.
8. The Finance Committee of the Deanship of Scientific Research disburses the payment due to the Principal Investigator.
