​The RI in the SEU was establish upon the recommendation of the University Council in its first session on 22/10/1433Hjri, and it received the approval of the Council of Higher Education in its seventy-first session held on 14/11/1433Hiri by decree No (10/71/1433) dated 14/11/1433Hijri, which received royal approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Council of Higher Education by royal directive No. (7385) dated 26/2/1934Hijri.

The RI is the main body for the administration and execution of research projects, studies, scientific consultation services and training offered by the SEU to outside (governmental and private) sectors in return for financial compensation or cordial agreement. The RI works in full coordination and integration with the academic units and administrations of the SEU making full use of the SEU facilities and expertise.  

Goals

Establishing strong ties between the university and different community units, through academic services, and its research and training experiences.

Achieving optimal and efficient use of the Institute's human, scientific and technical resources by working according to quality standards and its requirement.

Conducting studies (theoretical and practical), providing consultancy services, and specialized work for public and private sectors in various field of university's interest.

Marketing the Institute's services to the public and private sectors, to meet the sectors' needs, and to develop the University's financial and moral resources.

Tasks

Implementing researches, and theoretical and applied studies in various fields of University's interests.

Holding conferences and specialized seminars, as well presenting lectures and scientific and cultural dialogues.

Publishing books, scientific magazines and educational brochures.

Providing scientific and technical consultancy services based on researches and studies.

Preparing, qualifying and training national cadres and developing their scientific and functional skills.
