Self Designed Programs Initiative

According to the rapid developments in the labor market and the emergence of need for specializations that combine more than one specialization with the need for the main specialization to remain, and the challenge facing graduates of the university's programs in finding job opportunities for the programs available at the university and the university's desire to provide students with the opportunity to open other important options for studying in specializations that are not available in their colleges in which they were accepted, which will either be supportive for the main specialization or be a contributory to open important additional job opportunities in case that they cannot be employed. In their main specialization, these controls came to keep up what is happening in the international reference universities, achieve a general national interest and add greater flexibility in the university's programs.

Double Majors

An academic program that allows the student to obtain another major program, in addition to his main major, it requires passing at least 30% of the program hours in the other major, provided that these hours are specialized, so that they do not include university requirements and free courses, and the name of the other major is recorded in the graduation document (certificate) and in the student's academic record.

Requirements for joining the Double Major

The double major must be different from the student's main major and be submitted from another college or scientific department,

The registration of the student in the other major requires the approval of the department to which the other major belongs, based on the controls set by the department council, if it includes:

1/The student must pass at least (36) hours of his/her main major program.

2/The student's cumulative GPA should not be less than 2.75 out of 4 or its equivalent, and the department may raise this percentage as it deems appropriate.

The student's registration in the other major requires that the remaining period of his graduation be sufficient.

Any other controls and conditions set by the competent scientific department, in a manner that does not conflict with this regulatory framework.

Minor Majors

It is an academic program that allows the student to obtain a minor major, in addition to the main major, and requires passing at least 15% of the program hours in the other major, provided that these hours are specialized, so that they do not include university requirements and free courses, and the name of the minor is recorded in the student's academic record only.

The registration of the student in the minor requires the approval of the department to which the other major belongs, based on the controls set by the Department Council, if it includes:

1/The student must pass at least (36) hours of his/her main major program.
