​Introduction

As a specialization, administration is at the heart of business management. Administration graduates are equipped with competencies that enable them to draw and administer integrated plans for the units and institutions they serve, in addition to the ability to supervise and control through sound decision-making processes. They also have skills in project administration and supervision in the wide sense of the word.
The focus of administration as a specialization is to prepare administrators according to scientific methods and standards, enabling them to carry out their jobs in planning, organizing, advising and supervising. They are also trained to take up institutional jobs in the areas of finance, human resources, operation management, marketing, and research and development, in addition to their ability to contribute to the relation between their employer and employer's peer institutions.

Program content

The BA in Business Administration (Management) is an integrated program which covers the main areas required for practicing management in various organizations. The academic plan aims at meeting the needs of practicing administration from employment and strategic perspectives. On the employment front, the plan caters for what is needed in financial, operational and human resources management; and on the strategic front the academic plan caters for wider matters such as: strategic and administrative policies of the organization as a whole, organizational behavior, information processing within the organization, application of up-to-date technologies.

In addition to the knowledge base outlined above, the academic plan emphasizes the need for mastering practical skills by using case studies with most courses, and employing a variety of teaching and evaluation strategies customized for different components of the program.

Conditions for admission to the program

 

  • Bachelor's degree from a MOE-recognized university. If the certificate is obtained from abroad, it must be accredited according to the equivalency program provided by the Ministry of Education (MOE).
  • Applicant's cumulative GPA in the bachelor’s degree should not be less than (2.00 out of 4.00 or 3.00 out of 5.00) or its equivalent based on the available seats and shortlisting results. The College Council may waive this condition provided that the applicant's GPA is not less than (1.5 out of 4.00 or 2.5 out of 5.00) or its equivalent based on the available seats and shortlisting results.
  • Submit the result of one of the approved English language tests:
    • IELTS-Academic only: with a score of no less than 5
    • STEP: with a score of no less than 76
    • TOEFL_IBT: with a score of no less than 45.
  • SEU graduates are exempted from this condition provided that their bachelor’s program was taught in English, and a with a cumulative GPA of no less than (3.5 out of 4.00) or higher.
  • Students who have obtained a bachelor’s degree from universities in countries where the native language is English* and the universities are recognized by the Ministry of Education are exempted.

  • The validity period of the approved English language tests:
  • TOEFL_IBT: 2 Years
  • STEP: 3 Years
  • IELTS Academic only: 3 Years
  • Applicants need to submit only one English language test.
  • The applicant must be a Saudi or non-Saudi (residing within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a valid Iqama)
  • Applicants who have been initially accepted, are required to pay the full amount of first semester tuition to get final admission.

Program objectives

The BA in Business Administration aims at preparing a specialized workforce and developing the skills and competencies needed for meeting the requirements of the job market in both public and private sectors.

The graduates of the program are expected to:

1-Show understanding for practicing administrative jobs in various organizations.

2-Specify objectives for administrative units and organizations.

3-Distribute tasks and responsibilities among employees and specify the areas of authorities within the organization.

4-Encourage and stimulate employees to fulfill the organizations' objectives.

5-Evaluate performance and following standard procedures.

6-Suggest and draw long-term policies and plans.

7-Specify and envisage opportunities, challenges and threats to the organization from surrounding external environment.

8-Utilize up-to-date technologies in the administrative operations.

Brief Description

The internship ​provides qualified students with an opportunity to receive professional training and experience in an actual work environment. ​ This Internship is an ongoing seminar between the student, the faculty member and the employment supervisor.  ​It involves an Internship Application and Learning Agreement, periodic meetings with the faculty representative, professional experience at a level equivalent to other senior-level courses and submission of material as established in the Internship Application.

Semester

Semester 8 (10 weeks).

Time Allocation and Scheduling Arrangement

One semester after completing 90 credit hours of the study plan.

Number of Credit Hours

6 credit hours.

Intended Learning Outcomes

To examine one's own aptitudes toward work in the field of Finance and to consider which aspects of Finance best match one's own interests. ​

Assessment Procedures

40 % for internship activities (assigned by the on-training supervisor).

30 % for the apprehension and the assiduity of the student (assigned by the academic supervisor).

30 % for the substance and the style of the training report (assigned by the department)​.
