Saudi Electronic University Concludes “Thakaa” Camp Activities and Announces the Winners of the Competition

The Artificial Intelligence Center at SEU celebrated the conclusion of Thakaa camp activities with the participation of 9 innovative projects from 12 universities and colleges around the Kingdom to compete for the top three places. Dr. Ashwaq Al-Harqan, Center Supervisor, gave a speech welcoming the attendees and participants. She stressed that the University launched this program since it believes in its role as a government academic institution that contributes to developing national cadres qualified to work in artificial intelligence field including students of Saudi universities, and motivating them to innovate by providing innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence technologies in different sectors, such as: Education, health, business, etc. As it contributes to boosting digital transformation, fulfilling future labor market requirements, and helping to build a leading data-based economy, to achieve Vision 2030's ambitions and objectives.

 

In the ceremony, the winning projects at the first three places were presented. The project that won the 1st place is (T3leem tefleq application) invented by Amal Omar Qari, Raia Nasser Al-Mohaimed and Mimouna Medini Al-Barqi, from Qassim University, King Khalid University and Taiba University.

 

The project that won the 2nd place is Monther system developed by Reem Salem Al-Otaibi, Sarah Ghazi Selehm, Faisal Ibrahim Al-Kanhal, and Shatha Badr Al-Hasni, from universities: King Saud-Um Al-Qura, and Jubail Industrial College.

 

The project that won the 3rd place is artificial intelligence sports application invented by Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Banaimah from Jeddah University.

 

Thakaa camp included several specialized workshops presented by experts and specialists in the field over two weeks. Its themes are about artificial intelligence and its applications, Python language and its applications in artificial intelligence, introduction to machine learning, computer vision basics, introduction to natural language processing, practical training on machine learning applications, computer vision applications and natural language processing applications. In addition, the camp included enrichment sessions in the field of data, artificial intelligence and Tech entrepreneurship, provided by experts and specialists from Microsoft and Wadi Taiba Academy. The participants were more than 280 students, representing several public and private universities and colleges around the Kingdom.
