Augmented Reality Challenge in Education
Augmented Reality (AR) is evolving as one of the significant drivers of the tech economy. That's because AR applications and smart headsets grip a promise to add value to every industry. The AR technologies in education and training play important role in enhancing the learning experience.
The Saudi Electronic University as a leader in providing the latest educational technologies in the Kingdom, represented by the eLearning Innovation Center, is launching a training and awareness program called “AR Challenge in Education. The program aims to introduce university students to the science of spatial computing and the applications of virtual and augmented reality technology in order to build innovative applications that use augmented reality in education.
The Augmented Reality Challenge program consists of several phases. The program begins with virtual workshops during which participants learn the basics of Unity Engine development, animation, and augmented reality. During the workshops, participants implement practical projects and answer assignments about the content presented. Then a group of participants is nominated to continue the program to obtain practical training at the university headquarters to prepare for the challenge, which is implemented in person and under the supervision of specialists and experts in spatial computing and augmented reality technologies. During the supervision, the participants are evaluated to win financial prizes of 20 thousand riyals for the first three places.
