Hackathons and business accelerators are real programs that stimulate innovators and entrepreneurs to exchange skills and experiences and start innovative projects from scratch. Through the hackathon, innovative ideas emerge and transformed into real projects by incubating and supporting them through a Business Accelerator, which provides the necessary resources by a group of mentors in entrepreneurship to accelerate their product launch proud Saudi products help build the nation.
Because the Saudi Electronic University is distinguished in the leadership of eLearning, and to fulfill the Kingdom's vision 2030 to keep pace with global changes towards e-learning. The eLearning Innovation Center has launched the eLearning Innovation Hackathon and Accelerator program. This program aims to adapt and develop innovative technologies in e-learning that can be incubated and developed for investment and presented as a product or service to serve local educational institutions.
About Program
The eLearning Innovation Hackathon and Accelerator program provides an opportunity for innovators to provide innovative technological products/solutions in the field of eLearning. This program brings the participants with a selection of specialists in eLearning technologies, software development, and business in a hackathon which will produce several innovative projects, that are supported then accelerated by a business accelerator by applying the best practices in business management, marketing, and financial management. All program phases are implemented remotely using an interactive virtual platform. There are two paths for participation: idea in the field of e-learning (presentation, development, management, measurement, and quality) and a clear vision to develop it. The other track is a skill in software and applications development which includes programming, design, data management, and software project management.

Program Phases
Phases:
- Workshops:
Participants attend a set of virtual lectures in areas of e-learning development. Participants are obligated to attend workshops and submit assignments to continue into the hackathon phase.
- Hackathon:
It will be implemented remotely so that participants can create teams and distribute tasks, and then the teams will start developing, designing, and coding their ideas. The teams' projects progress will be monitored by specialists and experts in programming, entrepreneurship, and e-learning. The hackathon is immediately followed by the evaluation of the teams nominated to win the first five positions for several criteria, including originality of the idea, team integrity, market evaluation of the idea, high enthusiasm of the team (quality of presentation), possibility of implementing the proposed solution (scope impact), quality of implementation, level of innovation and originality of the solution presented.
- Business Accelerator:
An intensive training program aimed to crystallize ideas and projects and accelerate them following the best practices in entrepreneurship, through which the participants acquaint themselves with:

- Business models and fundamentals: marketing, finance, financial management, framing the commercial value of ideas, and the commercial preparation of owners of ideas.
- Building implementation plans and developing ideas: work completion stages, periods, budgets, implementing agencies.

Solutions for eLearning problems

About Accelerator
The Saudi Electronic University is distinguished in providing high-quality, distinctive programs by adopting the modern learning model for all society segments by implementing the latest technologies in E-Learning. This success was achieved by establishing strategic partnerships with many international universities and institutions specialized in educational technology. Therefore, the University has become a house of expertise and a provider of the latest educational technologies in the Kingdom. Given the continuation of this success and the fulfillment of the Kingdom's vision 2030 by supporting local educational institutions to keep pace with global changes towards e-learning, the University has launched a training course "Startup Accelerator for Innovation in eLearning" (SAIEL). It seeks to explore University students' capabilities to find innovative technological solutions in E-Learning that can be incubated, developed, and invested in making it a product that serves local education institutions. Students are considered an essential source for providing innovative solutions in e-education since they have firsthand experience with E-Learning and its' challenges.
General Framework
General framework of the training course "Startup Accelerator for Innovation in Education”:

Preparatory phase:
After recruiting and sorting, an intensive training program will be held that lasts 2-4 weeks and aims to develop ideas and projects through a practical methodology oriented to the work teams participating in the following topics:
- Business fundamentals and models (marketing, financing, finance - framing the commercial value of ideas commercial preparation of idea owners).
- Creating plans for implementing and developing ideas (stages of work completion, durations, budgets, implementing bodies).
- Skills for presenting to investors (preparing presentations- preparing and training to present proposals to potential investors).
- Inspirational stories and experiences (guest speakers & success stories).
Business start-up acceleration phase:
Business startup process passes through a couple of steps within an intensive practical program that includes necessary resources and tools to support entrepreneurs in translating their ideas and projects into reality.
- Selection: The best 8-10 ideas / projects are selected from the training camp's outputs to join the course. The selection process focuses on some criteria; most importantly, the applicant's personality, the work team, and the project idea.
- Duration: The period for business startup acceleration ranges from 4-6 weeks. The start of the program is determined according to the type of ideas and projects joining the program.
- Services: Support developing products to reach production and marketing distinctively. Holding various activities and events during the course time, including practical events and courses in various fields such as digital marketing, financial models, guest speakers ... etc. Providing startup business development services, including:
- Business plans, models and financing services.
- Marketing services and public relations.
- Legal services and intellectual property.
- Accounting and bookkeeping services.
