 Scientific research has a major position in building and disseminating knowledge, which our university considered as a cornerstone in the development of the educational process and research, building the knowledge society, enriching various fields of science, and contributing in supplying community with creative and productive resources. Therefore, the strategic scientific research plan of the Saudi Electronic University (SEU), represented by the Deanship of Scientific Research (DSR), is to create a motivational environment for its faculty members and postgraduate students by introducing initiatives that support scientific research projects and publishing, which the DSR aims to contribute to the advancement of scientific research in the Kingdom. The DSR is responsible for the planning, management, promotion and support of research projects and activities that are carried out by the SEU faculty members and students through internal funding. In addition, SEU is a male and female institute, and for the scientific research, the DSR grants research awards and incentives for both male and female at all SEU branch campuses.

Scientific Research Plan

The DSR is planning and managing research projects and other scholarly activities through the Scientific Research Council and research committees. The functional responsibilities of the deanship include a set of research activities such as the funding of research projects, granting research awards and incentives, granting financial rewards to faculty members who conduct workshops and seminars, and assigning funds to cover the expenses of researchers who participate in refereed conferences.

To achieve its plan, the DSR seeks to accomplish the following objectives

1. Increasing the number of refereed publications by 10%, 20%, and 15% in years 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively.

2. Increasing the number of ISI-indexed publications by 15% per year for the next three years.

3. Increasing the proportion of faculty members with at least one refereed publication by 10% per year for the next three years.

4. Increasing the research projects in the areas of Blended learning, Arabic language for non-native speakers, and projects that implement new trends and directions by at least two projects each.

5. Encouraging and financially supporting the SEU faculty members and students to participate and conduct their research projects.

  • Following up and improving the annual plans for scientific research at the SEU's colleges to satisfy the SEU strategic plan.
  • Coordinating with the local and international research institutions as a prelude to cooperate with them for the purposes of scientific research in order to serve the policies and objectives of the SEU in building local or international partnerships.
